Our team of officers are committed to making Neath Port Talbot's road users as informed about road safety as possible. We promote road safety through education, training and publicity for all ages and types of road user, from pre-school children to the elderly.
Working with engineers in Engineering and Programme Management, we publicise changes in the road environment aimed at improving safety. These include traffic calming measures and the introduction of new crossing places around schools. We also work in partnership with the Police, the Health Authority and other agencies to raise awareness of road safety issues and to promote positive attitudes to safe road use.
Reducing the number of accidents on the road involves changing attitudes through a planned and structured programme for children and adults. Road awareness needs to be developed from an early age and continued throughout life. The Road Safety team are involved in national campaigns such as drinking and driving and kill your speed and we are also involved in local campaigns that help to encourage children to walk to school.
